Welcome to the 21st Edition of the Asian Women’s Film Festival

The 21st IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival returns to New Delhi from 13 to 15 March 2026 – three days of cinema, conversation, and community at the India International Centre.

This edition brings together 75 films from across Asia and beyond: short documentaries, short fiction, long documentaries, features, animation and special screenings by women filmmakers from India, Japan, China, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Turkey, Iran, Nepal, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Australia, France, and the United States.

The festival opens with I, the Song by Bhutanese director Dechen Wangmo Roder, and closes with Shadowbox / Baksho Bondi by Tanushree Das and Saumyananda Sahi – followed by a closing conversation with director Tanushree Das and actress Tillotama Shome.

A special Focus on Central Asia — curated by Gulnara Abikeyeva and Gulbara Tolomushova — presents 7 films from Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic. Curated short film programmes from the AniMela Film Festival and the Asanjo Film Festival, Bhuj, are each followed by a Masterclass on Participatory Filmmaking.

The programme also features masterclasses with Keiko Okawa in conversation with Reena Mohan, and Paromita Vohra in conversation with Subasri Krishnan — alongside a roundtable on Questions in and of Film Pedagogy, moderated by Janaki Abraham and Surabhi Sharma.

75 films. 5 masterclasses. 1 roundtable. 3 unforgettable days.
