A young man is drawn to a blue gate that stands sentinel, guarding memories of days past. Behind the Blue Gate resides an old blind woman, meticulously tending to her garden. The young man quietly watches her from across the wall, his secrets tethered to his silent observations of her solitary existence. A quiet mystery unfolds, drifting through the delicate mysteries that connect us.

Director’s Bio

Kyrgyz director and writer Narghiza Dotieva was inspired to pursue filmmaking after listening to her grandfather recite the epic of Manas, the Kyrgyz people’s folklore. She obtained a First Class Honours degree in Film from the University of Westminster in London. Following her studies, she worked in documentary and advertising. Her first narrative short, Blue Gate was selected at Raindance Film Festival in London, won best actor at Sapporo Short Film Festival, received Special Mention at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Market, won the Jury Prize at Kyrgyzstan Land of Short Films, and played at Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival< Qyzqaras Film Festival and Central Asia: At the Crossroads in Berlin. She has just finished her feature debut, Skylark.
