Bavita
Aditti Padmanabhan / Short Documentary / India / English, Hindi / 09:31 / 2025
The documentary follows Bavita, a young construction worker whose life unfolds within the raw, demanding spaces of building sites. Beginning as one among many, the film gradually isolates her voice, her reflections, and her quiet strength—finding her from the faceless crowd. Bavita’s story is intimate: her son, her husband, her small rituals of living independently, each detail revealing her life one fold at a time. At just 21, she carries the label of Gen Z, yet her reality feels distant from the freedoms usually associated with this generation. The film traces this paradox, capturing how her journey both belongs to and stands apart from the world we imagine.
Through the lens, we linger on her pauses—on labor and rest—as she shapes her story, quietly, brick by brick.

Director’s Bio

Aditti Padmanabhan
I believe in how film can feel human—how it can gently interrupt the everyday, make someone pause, smile, or think. My work lives at the intersection of story and atmosphere. I’m drawn to the quiet details: a passing glance, a shift in light, the subtle rhythm of a conversation. I believe film has the power to turn ordinary moments into something lasting.
My films are personal, playful, and shaped by my surroundings—the people I meet, the places I travel, and the small, honest moments in between. I’m inspired by real life and the emotional textures that make it universal.
I specialize in narrative filmmaking, visual storytelling, and abstract direction—crafting stories that feel intimate, thoughtful, and deeply human.
