Just like his deceased father, Nihal is desperately trying to break the vicious cycle of debt and hang on to his small parcel of farmland. Nihal’s refusal to accept the futility of the fight is putting a strain on his recent marriage and testing the patience of his wife, Reet. ‘Khooh Waala Ghar’ (Room at the Farm) is the story of a young couple as they struggle to express love in the face of hardship and uncertainty of the future. The film is also about the last stand of a community against the tide of rampant development and inevitable change.

Director’s Bio


Jasmine Kaur Roy and Avinash Roy are National Award winning filmmakers and have been independently producing and directing shorts and documentaries under their banner Wanderlust Films. Both are graduates of Film & Television Institute of India while Jasmine is also a Berlinale Talents alumna. They seek to tell socially relevant stories and bring forth voices that have largely remained unheard and unsung. They won the National Film Award for their films Saanjh (2005) and Amoli (2018) and their films have been screened at prestigious film festivals across the world. Some of their notable films are Room at the Farm, Amoli, Saanjh, Raavi and Scavenging Dreams.
