Last Night I Dreamed It Was Raining Fish
Shraddha Khanna / Short Documentary / India / Marathi / 16:20 / 2025
The voice of an old fisherwoman recounts the story of her people, the Kolis—the indigenous fisherfolk of Mumbai. As the past dissolves into the present, local deities, lunar cycles and shifting tides give way to grey skies, choked rivers and urban disarray. The Koli’s enduring connection to the primordial rhythms of the sea are disturbed by the ruthless transformation of the city. An ethnographic meditation on the native fisherfolk and their resilience in the face of a city that never stops changing.
